Donington Park is gearing up for another superb season of motorsport in 2024, with major events running from March until the end of October. Top-line motorcycle racing, the UK’s leading categories on two and four wheels, major festivals and a busy programme of club level events all feature across the next eight months.
World Superbike aces return this summer
Donington Park’s major international fixture returns this summer, as the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship thunders into the East Midlands on 12-14 July. A packed grid of the planet’s top superbike racers, featuring three world champions and a host of British Superbike winners will do battle over the course of three epic races.
Whist double champion Alvaro Bautista remains with Ducati, it’s all change elsewhere as Jonathan Rea departs Kawasaki for Yamaha as he aims for a seventh title, and 2021 winner Toprak Razgatlioglu heads to BMW as he too looks to knock Bautista off his perch. Home heroes and former Bennetts BSB champions Scott Redding, Alex Lowes, Tarran Mackenzie and Bradley Ray, plus the addition of Alex’s twin brother Sam to the grid, add extra spice to the line-up. As well as the epic World Superbike action, there’s a full support card of international and top national categories, and there’s loads of family fun too with free access to the all action Paddock Show.
Double helpings from the best of British
The country’s most popular series: the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship and the British GT Championship all visit the venue twice in 2024. The BTCC holds its first event of the year on 27-28 April with rounds on the National Circuit, and returns for further wheel to wheel battles on the Grand Prix Circuit on 24-25 August.
Fresh from an explosive season in 2023, the ever-thrilling Bennetts British Superbike Championship brings the country’s top two-wheel racers to Donington Park on 17-19 May and for a crucial Showdown round on 27-29 September, when the title battle will be really heating up. Last year’s rounds saw unbelievable drama, and 2024 should be no different!
British GT meanwhile maintains its run of double Donington visits, with the country’s top supercar racers heading to the East Midlands on 25-26 May and for the penultimate event of its season on 7-8 September. Both events will feature endurance epics and an excellent support race package with GB4 single-seaters featuring at both, while GB3, Britain’s premier single-seater category, joins the bill for the second visit.
If that wasn’t enough, each series will hold a major pre-season test at Donington Park too! British GT’s Media Day is scheduled for 12 March, and BSB will carry out a two day test on 6-7 April. The BTCC Season Launch follows on 16 April.
The UK’s ‘biggest’ series is back
Convoy in the Park, the fully loaded celebration of truck racing and all things life on the road returns for another summer spectacular on 10-11 August. Expect multiple races from the five tonne monsters of the British Truck Racing Championship, a full support race package and endless family fun too. An action arena featuring stunts and a caravan smash, live music, big display areas, side shows and more make this a must visit event for all ages.
Retro racers aplenty
Donington Park again welcomes a number of prestigious historic racing organisers to the venue, with the showpiece Donington Historic Festival set to celebrate over a century of motor racing on 4-5 May, with a diverse mix of sports cars and saloons dating back as far as the 1920s. As well as two days of fantastic racing, there’s also a huge amount of nostalgia around the venue with big car displays and a themed trade area.
Masters Historic Racing brings sensational Formula One machinery from the 1970s and 80s to the venue on 3-4 August, in addition to some truly stunning retro relics including 1990s and 2000s Le Mans Prototypes and GT cars, plus similar machines from 50 years previously.
Legendary BTCC Super Touring cars will do battle again on 29-30 March, and there’s further classic action from Bernie’s V8s and Historic Outlaws on 11 May, the Historic Sports Car Club on 8-9 June, Pre-66 Classic Sports and GT cars on 6 July and the Vintage Motorsport Festival on the following day.
The Classic Motorcycle Festival returns on 27-28 July, with hundreds of bikes from the 1960s, '70s and '80s set to take to the track as part of a heaving package of races from the Classic Racing Motorcycle Club.
All the right tunes
Tunerfest Midlands returns to Donington Park on Sunday 18 August, for the region’s biggest celebration of performance tuning and outrageously modified machinery. On track action is headlined by the frantic Time Attack series, where drivers and cars go against the clock in pursuit of the fastest lap times. Further thrills come from the Motorsport UK Drift Pro Championship, which is all about going sideways with as much style as possible, and there’s racing action from saloons. In addition, a huge off track show includes display areas, show and shine competitions, trade stands and a whole lot more.
Vaux Valves also returns for a second season on Saturday 14 September, with all things Vauxhall taking centre stage. Hundreds of Vauxhalls are set to go on display including some famous motorsport machines, plus an exciting racing package too.
Club contenders out to thrill
In addition to an outstanding line-up of headline events, Donington Park will see racing competition on almost every weekend between March and the end of October. The season starts with the Dukeries Rally on 17 March, with the first race event coming a week after courtesy of the Classic Sports Car Club (CSCC). Other highlights include visits from the GT Cup Championship (20-21 April and 14-15 September), and the Ferrari Challenge UK (20-21 July).
The British Automobile Racing Club (BARC), British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC), 750 Motor Club and MSV Racing have all confirmed dates, ensuring plenty of variety and packed grids throughout the year.
Bike racing fans also have plenty to look forward to, with visits from No Limits Racing (13-14 April and 5-6 October), the British Motorcycle Racing Club (BMCRC) on 1-2 June, and the NG Road Racing Club on 31 August – 1 September.
Great value all season for families with free entry for under-13s
Children under-13 go free to every event at Donington Park, making for great family days out all year. Furthermore, additional savings can also be had for teenagers aged 13-15 throughout the season, and tickets are always cheaper when booked in advance.
With free parking at every event, and no hidden costs, adult entry starts at just £15. Grandstand seating and camping pitches are on offer at major events too, allowing fans to make a full weekend of it.
Still time to grab season passes
Season passes offering entry to almost every event at Donington Park in 2024 are still available, and are the best way to watch motorsport at the circuit while making massive savings compared to buying individual tickets. With the exception of World Superbikes, every two and four wheel event is covered by the Donington Park season pass, while specific two and four wheel passes allow access to events of that nature at not just Donington, but the other circuits across the MSV group too.
