A huge gathering of 90 rally prepared cars will take on the challenges of the Tegiwa Donington Rally this Sunday (1 December), with a full day of powersliding action in store to bring down the curtain on the circuit’s 2024 motorsport calendar.
The entry features no fewer than 20 Ford Escorts; these motoring classics are becoming a rare sight on the roads now, but they’re still a very competitive beast in stage rallying!
If that wasn’t enough, there’s an assortment of Subaru Imprezas and Mitsubishi Evos expected to prove their worth, and plenty of other rally specials including an example of the legendary Metro 6R4, three Darrians, plus modern WRC-style machinery.
Key crews to look out for include the Citroen C3 of reigning Circuit Rally champions Michael Igoe and Will Atkins, and the Skoda Fabia R5 of former champions John Griffiths and Emma Morrison. Current championship leaders John and Alex Stone will aim for more glory in their VW Polo R5 GTi, as they aim to extend an 11-point lead over Chris Woodhouse and Lucy Wilding's Peugeot 208 R2.
Each crew will be taking on the unique stage rally specification Donington Park layout. This encompasses not just the famous racing tarmac, but plenty of off-track elements and gravel segments, while the circuit itself will be punctuated with tyre chicanes and other obstacles to add further challenges. And some parts will even see the circuit run in anti-clockwise configuration!
A total of six different stages will be held across the day, with the first due to start at 9.15, and the last running expected at just past 5pm, with headlights ablaze.
All the competing machines will be viewable in the open paddock, allowing spectators to get a good look at the cars and mingle with the crews between each stage.
Tickets are available at advance rates until 4pm on Thursday (28 November) priced at £18 for adults, with additional savings for teenagers aged 13-15, while children under-13 go free all day. Click here for more information and to book.
