Barwell Motorsport’s Lamborghini overcame a close challenge from 2 Seas Motorsport's Mercedes-AMG to claim pole position this afternoon in Qualifying for tomorrow's British GT Championship contest.

Kevin Tse and his 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG was the early pace setter ahead of the Lamborghini of Rob Collard, who had looked set to dominate proceedings in the opening 10-minute session for Am rated drivers, before Tse set a last gasp lap of a 1m27.318s. It was a stunning lap in the dying breaths of the session to steal the top spot from Barwell Motorsport, with the gap between the top two just two hundredths of a second. 

Behind that was the sister Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini piloted by Alex Martin, who was a further tenth back. The Greystone GT Mercedes-AMG of Mike Price was fourth, with the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo of Matt Topham squeezing into the top five, with the leading quintet split by less than half a second.

In the second session for GT3 cars, the Lamborghini and Mercedes battle continued, with Barwell Motorsport and Ricky Collard this time pipping the 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG of Maximilian Goetz, securing the combined pole position for the current championship leaders with a combined time of 2m53.232s.

Sandy Mitchell did enough in the sister Lamborghini to ensure they start third on the grid, followed by the Greystone GT Mercedes-AMG of Mike Price and Callum Macleod and the RAM Racing BMW of Max Hesse and John Ferguson.

Pole position in the GT4 class was secured by the Aston Martin of Forsetti Motorsport piloted by Jamie Day and Mikey Porter. The McLaren of Jack Brown and Zac Meakin was second just 2 hundredths of a second adrift, with the DTO Motorsport Ginetta in third.
