Kattoulas remains unbeaten during opening day of Donington Park pre-event GB4 test

03 April 2025

Elite Motorsport's Alex Kattoulas topped the times on the first day of pre-event testing at Donington Park on Thursday, ahead of the GB4 Championship season opener at the circuit this weekend.

The Japanese-Greek contender set his best time, a 1m28.098s right at the end of the first session of the day this morning, and while his Elite Motorsport teammates Ary Bansal and Isaac Phelps topped the next two sessions, Kattoulas' session one time remained unbeaten.

He ended up just over a tenth clear of Phelps' session three time, while Fortec's Thomas Ingram Hill, who led much of session one, ended the first day in third.

Bansal's session two effort put him fourth on the combined time sheets, 0.045s away from the top-three and just over a tenth clear of Douglas Motorsport's Luke Hilton.

Hillspeed's Dan Guinchard was next up, 0.002s in arrears and 0.039s clear of the second Fortec machine of Jack Taylor.

Single-seater newcomer Stefan Bostandjiev, who will prioritise GB3 this year but will make his open wheel debut this weekend with Pace Performance was an impressive eighth quickest, a tenth ahead of Arden's 2024 podium finisher Leon Wilson.

Graham Brunton Racing's Mayer Deonarine completed the top-10, which was covered by 0.739 seconds. The top-12 drivers, including Leandro Juncos (Hillspeed) and Callum Baxter (Graham Brunton Racing) were all within a second of the pace. A total of 25 drivers participated in today's test.

Testing resumes tomorrow, with three more sessions.
