The battle for the 2025 British GT Championship kicks off at Donington Park this weekend (5/6 April), with eight different manufacturers represented across the GT3 and GT4 categories on an impressive entry list.
The full Grand Prix circuit will play host to the mouth-watering grid, with Sunday’s two-hour British GT contest headlining the on-track action. GT3 monsters from Lamborghini, McLaren and Mercedes-AMG will be joined by the returning Porsche, whilst Honda makes its much-anticipated debut in the top class.
In GT3, Barwell Motorsport enters the season as the team to beat, with the outfit’s pair of Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2s securing the top-two places in the GT3 Drivers Championship as well as winning the Teams Championship last year.
The team’s line-up will look a little different this weekend however, with reigning champion Rob Collard having to sit out the opening round, so substitute Matt Topham joins Hugo Cook in the #1 car. Last season’s runners-up, Alex Martin and Sandy Mitchell, return in the #78 Huracan.
Sunday’s season-opening contest is a big points scoring opportunity, with several challengers looking to disrupt the status quo early on. This includes a pair of distinctively liveried 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evos, while McLaren will be the best represented manufacturer in the category with five 720S GT3 Evos on the grid. Two are entered by Optimum Motorsport, while Paddock Motorsport, Greystone GT and Orange Racing by JMH run one apiece. Aston Martin are present on the grid once again, with Blackthorn and Beechdean Motorsport both running a Vantage AMR GT3 Evo.
An exciting addition to the GT3 grid for this season is the full-time return of Porsche to the top flight after one-off appearances last year. Team Parker Racing has entered a 911 GT3 R piloted by Nick Jones and factory driver Sven Muller. Another new entry is the Bridger Motorsport-run Honda NSX GT3 Evo II, marking the model’s first appearance in British GT, with Chun Cheong Ip and Luke Garlick taking the wheel.
In GT4, reigning champion Jack Brown will be looking to become the first driver in British GT history to win two GT4 titles, teaming up with Marc Warren in one of Optimum Motorsport’s two McLaren Artura GT4s. Century Motorsport fields a duo of BMW M4 GT4 Evos, while Mahiki Racing enters a trio of Lotus Emira GT4s.
Team Parker Racing‘s Mercedes-AMG GT4 is piloted by Jon Currie and Phil Keen; as the most successful driver in British GT history, Keen will be looking to add GT4 glory to his illustrious CV. Aston Martin and Porsche are also represented in the category, with a Vantage AMR GT4 Evo and a 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS respectively.

GB4 Championship enters new era
The GB4 Championship partnered by the BRDC enters a new era at Donington Park this weekend as the series welcomes the Tatuus MSV GB4-025 car into competitive action for the first time.
A record grid of more than 20 cars will compete in the season-opening triple-header, with a number of returning drivers and new talents battling to cement themselves as championship contenders. Some familiar names on the entry list include Luca Magnussen and Dayton Coulthard, sons of former F1 drivers Jan Magnussen and David Coulthard, who will be hoping that this weekend marks the beginning of their journey to the top flight of motorsport.
Callum Baxter, Megan Bruce, Leon Wilson and Ava Dobson return to the championship after competing in 2024 and will be hoping that their added experience will help boost their chances.
Further track action comes from the TCR UK Touring Car Championship as well as action from the Ginetta Juniors, Ginetta GT Academy and Ginetta GT Championship.
