Donington Park circuit will hold its biggest programme of major
motorsport events for many years in 2023, after confirming
its full event calendar of two and four wheel racing.
Events range from top-line international motorcycle contests and
the UK's premier championships to major festivals and dozens of
club-level car and bike meetings.
The world's best superbike racers are back!
Donington Park's flagship event is the MOTUL FIM Superbike World
Championship, which returns to the circuit for the only round on
British soil on 30 June-2 July. No fewer than four world
champions are on this year's grid, with 2022 winner Alvaro Bautista
looking to retain his title against Toprak Razgatlioglu and home
heroes Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes. A grid of world class
riders will race three times across the weekend, with a full
international support race package too, plus loads of additional
family entertainment including a vibrant Paddock Show big stage
and more.
Double visits for Britain's biggest and best motorsport
categories
Donington Park has the unique distinction of holding two rounds of
each of Britain's biggest championships this year. The Kwik Fit
British Touring Car Championship holds its first round of the
season on 22/23 April with a packed grid of saloon stars engaging
in battle on the National circuit. Then, for the first time in over
two decades, the much-anticipated second visit will take place on
the lengthier Grand Prix layout (26/27 August).
The Bennetts British Superbike Championship is another series to
enjoy a double visit, with the UK's best bike racers heading to the
GP circuit on 19/21 May and then returning on 29 September-1
October around the quick-fire National layout during the
revamped and crucial 'Showdown' phase, with titles on the verge of
being settled.
For fans of supercars and prestige manufacturers, the Intelligent
Money British GT Championship with its fabulous line-up of
Porsches, McLarens, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins and more will
thunder into Donington Park on 27/28 May, and then end its season
on 21/22 October during an event that always provides unbelievable
drama. There will be single-seater stars of the future too,
with the GB4 Championship at both events, and the UK's leading
category of its kind, GB3, joining the line-up for the October
round.
A lorry load of family fun
Convoy in the Park (12/13 August), one of Britain's biggest
celebrations of all things truck racing and life on the
road, will bring more global action to Donington Park with the
International Truck Prix for supersized racing machines, in
addition to rounds of the British Truck Racing Championship. As
well as the goliath on track action, including nine truck races,
there's a great bundle of family fun around the venue too, with
live music, an action arena with stunt shows and a caravan smash,
and massive display areas and side shows.
Big retro motorsport celebrations
Donington Park is a renowned host of historic racing, and there'll
be plenty of ways to celebrate motorsport's glorious heritage once
more in 2023. The Masters Race Weekend on 7/8 April will feature
legendary Le Mans racers from the past three decades, and plenty
more classic sports car action.
Just a few weeks later, the iconic Donington Historic Festival
(29/30 April) returns with its incredible mix of racing cars dating
back as far as the 1920s, including a mix of sports, saloons and GT
racers. In addition, hundreds of classics will be on display around
the venue as part of a lively off-track offering.
Then, for fans of classic two wheelers, the CRMC Classic
Motorcycle Festival is back again on 29/30 July. Expect up to 50
races across the weekend from bikes up to 70 years old, a number of
star guest appearances from legends of the sport, and big displays
too.
Top tuners and dramatic drifters
The UK motorsport scene has seen a big rise in modified machines
and drifting, and all this will be celebrated at Tunerfest Midlands
(20 August). Flat-out Time Attack contenders will pursue outright
speed in outrageous cars, while a showcase of an altogether
different skill will come from the Motorsport UK Drift Pro
Championship, where drivers will spend as much time going sideways
as possible, usually accompanied by billowing tyre smoke! There'll
be saloon and sports car racing action too.
In addition, Donington hosts Vaux Valves (24 September) for
the first time, an all-out celebration of all-things Vauxhall
related, on top of an on-track programme provided by the 750 Motor
Club.
Dozens of club racing highlights
The main racing season stretches from March to the end of October,
with motorsport to enjoy on almost every weekend thanks to a large
gathering of club car and motorcycle events. The season starts with
the Dukeries Rally (12 March), while the first racing action of the
year comes courtesy of the supercars of the GT Cup (1/2 April).
Other highlights include the Historic Sports Car Club's visit to
the Grand Prix circuit (24/25 June), a Vintage Motorsport
Festival (9 July) and the TCR UK Touring Car Championship (9/10
September).
The first bike events of the year come in May courtesy of No
Limits Racing (6/7 May) and then the NG Road Racing Club (13/14
May), acting as the perfect warm up for the first British Superbike
visit. Other bike events include a visit from the British
Motorcycle Racing Club (3/4 June) and a second round for No
Limits Racing (7/8 October).
In addition, the UK's leading car racing organisers will all stop
by this year, including the resident 750 Motor Club, MotorSport
Vision Racing (MSVR), British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC),
Equipe Classic Racing, British Endurance Championship and the
British Automobile Racing Club (BARC).
Great value and free entry for kids
Under-13s go free to all motorsport events at Donington Park,
ensuring a great value day out for the family all season. There are
additional savings for teenagers aged 13-15, and all tickets are
cheaper in advance. Parking is free at every event too, and there
are no hidden extra costs. Adult tickets start at just £15, and
there are grandstand upgrades available at most major events, while
on site camping is also on offer at most major meetings, allowing
fans to stay right in the heart of the action!
Season passes still available
Passes allowing access to almost every event of the year are still
available, and provide a big combined saving across the year. The
Donington Park season pass allows access to all of this year's
events with the exception of World Superbikes, while specific two
wheel and four wheel passes allow access to eligible events not
just at Donington Park, but to the other circuit's in MSV's group
too, including Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park, Oulton Park and
Snetterton.
